Verdict
Plenty of these have chances in a typically competitive three-year-old handicap including Punjabi, Stainley and Davidia but the vote goes to Queen Jean. The selection was good value for her win in a similar contest at Redcar last month and off just a 6lb higher mark today has an obvious chance of following up on a surface that should bring about the necessary improvement. Pagan Crest was not beaten far on his reappearance at Leicester and has to be considered as most of the yard¿s horses have tended to improve significantly for their first start of the campaign. James Fanshawe¿s Sanctity could be of interest on her first start in a handicap stepping up to a mile for the first time on ground that should suit and he makes more appeal than Carloman, who would need to improve markedly on the form of her debut outing in this grade at Thirsk recently. The Barry Hills-trained Aurora Jane could be anything but would probably prefer a faster surface and of more interest may be recent Newcastle winner Punjabi, although he too is probably better on faster ground. James Bethell¿s Stainley looks to be going the right way and could be of interest but may need dropping a few more pounds, while it will be interesting to see what Davidia achieves on his first start on turf since July. There are no problems with the surface for Queen Jean though and she gets the vote.
