          Verdict

          This is a competitive contest but we will side with Sir Orpen to get the better of Cornus and Wanchai Lad. The selection put in a fair effort at Catterick last time when finishing fourth behind Glenbuck. He has been threatening to get his head in front for a while now and with ground conditions to suit he looks the percentage call. Cornus caught the eye finishing strongly in a race won by Wanchai Lad over this course and distance last time. On these terms he should be capable of reversing placings with that rival who has a 6lbs penalty for that win to shoulder today. Gilded Cove ran better than the bare form would suggest last time and is another to consider, but for the winner we are happy to stick with Sir Orpen.
