Verdict
Mark Johnston has made hay in races of this nature over the years and can score again with the in-form Marias Magic. There are several others with each-way claims and the likes of Libre, Triple Jump and Arry Dash are all capable of making this a good test. Arry Dash needs to be played late and will ensure the leaders are pushed all the way to the line. However, the former Mick Channon inmate has been very hard to win with and often fails to go through with his effort. Triple Jump is a lightly raced type that should have plenty more to offer. He showed promise as a three-year-old but did not really appreciate the heavy ground when he was last seen out. A careful eye on the weather is recommended before getting heavily involved with him. Libre has been a little unlucky of late and deserves a change of fortune. He stays well and will exploit any weaknesses in the rest. However, he is vulnerable to a more progressive type like Marias Magic, who fits the typical profile of a Johnston improver that is expected to be hard to beat now that she has succeeded in proving herself over this trip.
