In depth

Verdict

Abide is selected to go one better at the expense of Feathergrass and newcomer Marella. Abide did all bar win when trying to make all over the course and distance on her reappearance, failing narrowly to hold on from Lysandra. That promising effort proved that Richard Hannon's filly had trained on, and with that outing under her belt, she should take all the beating today. Feathergrass also shaped well when sixth to Simply Sunshine on her Newbury debut and the extra furlong here will help her cause. There are a couple of interesting newcomers in Marella and Edict and both can pay to follow in time. Marella is a half-sister to several winners including Powerscourt no less, while Edict is related to four Flat winners. The market will probably reveal which of them is most forward today, but with that recent good run to her credit, it is Abide who is the one to beat.
