Verdict

Colepeper's sole win came on quicker ground so he is taken on here with GUNNER LINDLEY and Decorative, with preference for the former. Barry Hills' colt drops in grade after a solid fifth to Balducci in the Silver Bowl at Haydock. This Medicean colt is effective on soft ground and should relish this long home straight. Decorative should make the market having been very impressive at Yarmouth when trouncing the Mark Johnston-trained Battlemaiden. That horse is now rated 80 but the form doesn't leap off the page and on very different ground this half-sister to Forgotten Voice will have more of a fight on her hands. Subtefuge is considered after a strong Warwick run but the presence of Charles Eddery back on board might suggest that connections feel an 8lb higher mark may be cause for concern. Bintalwaadi beat Fireback at Lingfield and had previously run well on debut at the track when second to Fairy Promises on testing ground. She is bred to improve and is hard to ignore off this opening mark of 84. Count Bertoni completes the line-up and is not discounted after his win over course and distance however he has more to do today in this stronger race. A fantastic handicap where we're happy to plump for Gunner Lindley.
