In depth
Verdict
Several of these can pay their way at this sort of level as the season goes on, but a chance is taken with Zayn Zen, who won well over course and distance last month and can put that experience to good use today. Davenport has done very little wrong lately and, along with Astronomical and Hadrian, is very much respected. That said, Marchetta gets in here off a very fair mark for her handicap debut and is another to keep a close eye on for signs of support - especially as her yard appear to be stepping things up a gear now. Hadrian fared well in the face of a stiff test last time and cannot be ruled out in this slightly easier company. He should have no problems getting a mile and he definitely one to take notes on whatever happens today. As is Astronomical, who almost certainly needed the run on his reappearance and is sure to strip fitter today. A rating of 77 leaves his connections with plenty of horse to work with and he has to be a serious consideration for each-way backers. Daveport will no doubt be a popular choice after wining his last two starts well. However, the ground may have gone again the son of Bold Fact and he may have his edge blunted today. Which brings us back to Zayn Zen, who shaped as if she still has plenty to offer after her gutsy win a fortnight ago. The Singspiel filly appears versatile regarding her preferred ground and, with race fitness now proven, she is fancied to be very hard to pass in her follow up bid.
