Verdict
Abushamah bounced back to form when a clear-cut scorer at Redcar, putting a decent field to the sword in style. Ruth Carr's gelding is a strong consideration but the 5lb punishment inflicted by the assessor takes him to a career-high mark against useful rivals. Marcano failed to handle the step-up to this class last time but Poet's Beauty is respected in receipt of weight all round as the sole three-year-old in the line-up. He's going the right way for a yard operating at a very healthy strike rate this year. However, MUJAZIF impressed when scoring over course and distance on his penultimate start and only narrowly failed to follow up at Haydock five days later. At his best with cut in the ground, his chance would be compromised by firming conditions but he is taken to score in the hope that some juice remains in the turf.
