Verdict

War Spirit is back in the right grade after his winning run came to an end at Goodwood. Mutafaakir won over track and trip last month but is 6lb higher while Pea Shooter has gone up another 2lb after coming up short at Ayr. Stablemate Imperial Legend finished ahead of him in that race, reversing earlier form at Doncaster, and looks Dandy Nicholls' best hope today though he has ground to make up on Red Baron. Eric Alston also has SIGNORE PICCOLO in the line-up and it's the three-year-old who gets the vote. He beat Skye's The Limit and Scarborough over course and distance on soft ground in the spring when trained by Tony Coyle and can reverse subsequent Haydock form with War Spirit on 7lb better terms. Conditions should suit old Cheveton while Clubland likes it here so they may be best of the rest.
