Verdict

Enable bids to win this for the third time and it would be a fitting end to a brilliant career if she does so. But she found one too good on similar testing going in last year’s renewal and the value may lie elsewhere. Stablemate and high-class stayer Stradivarius has form in soft but has been beaten twice over today’s trip this year including over course and distance last month while Sottsass and Japan finished third and fourth respectively in this last year. The latter has won in heavy ground in the past though his full-brother and stable companion MOGUL (NAP) has yet to encounter a testing surface. Aidan O’Brien’s progressive colt won the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris here in good style last time with another Ballydoyle runner and Derby winner Serpentine, supplemented for this, behind and Ryan Moore’s mount may not have finished improving yet. German Derby winner In Swoop has come in for support but finished runner-up to the selection last time while multiple Group 1 winner Persian King has yet to race over this far and was well beaten in heavy ground in August. Way To Paris has a bit to find with a couple of these and though Jean-Claude Rouget holds the filly Raabihah in high regard, she came up short in last month’s Prix Vermeille trial here.
