In depth

Verdict

Eldar Eldarov came late to snatch the spoils in the 1m6f Queen's Vase at Ascot so would need a fast and furious gallop to stage a repeat. EL BODEGON's victory over Stone Age in the Criterium de Saint-Cloud was on testing ground and it was soft when five-lengths second to the brilliant Vadeni in the French Derby with the staying-on Onesto a couple of lengths behind. With the ground likely to be well watered again the former can confirm the places and take this. Piz Badile didn't handle Epsom and was put in his place by Westover at the Curragh while Simca Mille takes a step-up in class after easily landing a Chantilly Group 3. L'astronome made all to land a 1m3f Group 2 here in May, his third narrow victory of the campaign.
