GOLDEN LILAC is by Galileo out of a mare who was second in this race. She has looked a potential star since the early days and was an impressive winner from Mixed Intention of a Group 3 over the C&D on her reappearance. Zoowraa has done everything asked of her and though her overall form falls short of the standard required here she should make significant progress this year. Wild Wind has been found wanting at this sort of level but Maqaasid is a very useful filly who ran a superb race in the 1000 Guineas at HQ despite not getting the best of runs. Nova Hawk, who finished fifth, didn't enjoy the fast ground and could reverse the form in much easier conditions. Maqaasid was behind Rimth in the Cheveley Park in October and Paul Cole's filly looked one to follow when bursting clear of today's rival Sharnberry in the Fred Darling at Newbury. Helleborine, runner-up to Misty For Me in the Marcel Boussac, got no sort of run on her reappearance and can do much better.
