In depth

Verdict

This prize hasn’t left France since Sir Henry Cecil’s terrific filly Midday won it in 2010 but John Gosden is looking to put that right with both his representatives having strong claims. Oaks heroine Anapurna returns to action for the first time since beating Pink Dogwood at Epsom but Frankie opts for the progressive STAR CATCHER, who beat Fleeting on both occasions when winning the Ribblesdale at Ascot and the Irish Oaks in July. She gets the vote given all three of Andre Fabre’s runners look to have some improving to do with the unexposed Tamniah perhaps best of them. Channel disappointed in the Nassau at Goodwood last time but the French Oaks winner is better than that and could go well.
