In depth

Verdict

Sir Michael Stoute won this with Spanish Moon in 2009 and Fiorente produced his best effort to date when landing the Princess Of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket in July. He beat the re-opposing Joshua Tree, a Group 2 winner since, on that occasion but he's taking on a couple of Arc contenders here. Japanese star and multiple Group 1 winner, Orfevre, has his first start outside of Japan. Currently around 8/1 for next month's Arc, it looks like he's brought his own pacemaker with him in Aventino, and we'll find out how he matches up to one of Europe's best today as he takes on MEANDRE. Andre Fabre's charge won an admittedly soft Group 1 race in Germany last time but there was nothing wrong with his defeat of subsequent Yorkshire Oaks heroine Shareta, along with a below par Danedream, at Saint-Cloud before that and he looks the safest bet in this.
