In depth
Verdict
A race that certainly wont take much winning for You're a Gassman. He may not be great value but has an outstanding chance of scoring here and continue his recent spell of consistent form. He found Bobby Dazzler just too good for him when second over course and distance last time out. That form has been franked since Bobby Dazzler scooted home at Chepstow last week. Brian Ellison has his string of horses in great form at present and trains Hope Sound who improved for the step up in trip at Sedgefield last month when finishing second in a similar contest. Being a four-year-old he gets a weight concession but looks exposed on what he has shown so far and still has improvement to find. Solway Raider ran well enough on his hurdling debut when finishing fourth at Hexham over three miles. That could have stretched his stamina and todays shorter trip will suit but he may have to wait his turn to enter the winner's enclosure. Tom George travels a long way north from his Gloucester base to saddle the Polish-bred Joung Islander. Having his debut over hurdles today he will be well-schooled but his form abroad is difficult to evaluate and and although connections have picked an ideal race he maybe best watched today. To conclude with a clear round You're a Gassman wins.
