Verdict
Leopard Spot can get us off to a good start here, with Gan Eagla, Mags Two and Kid 'Z' Play others to consider. The selection is a fairly confident one based on what these have achieved to date, with Leopard Spot having been good enough to achieve a rating of 101 when last seen out over hurdles. That, however, was in October 2002, and so it is a long time since he has taken a hurdle in public. Even so, Ian Semple has given him three runs on the level and he should be coming right just in time for this ordinary maiden. Gan Eagla could be the one to chase him home. The Venetia Williams-trained gelding drops back in trip after finishing second over 2m 7f at Stratford last time, but he still performs adequately over this sort of trip. The problem is that he is a confirmed one pacer and so another place looks booked. Mags Two has not been seen out for some time either, but would have frame claims based on his second to Rose Tea at Hexham last year, while Kid 'Z' Play comes here fit from the Flat and will like the ground. He should also be at home over this trip and could prove a threat to the selection, but on what he has achieved so far we will stick with Leopard Spot.
