CAIUS MARCIUS was asked to make up a lot of ground when beaten a head attempting to follow up an earlier win at Hexham. If Craig Nichol has him closer to the pace here, he should have too much for likely market rival John Monash, who is rated 7lb lower but will appreciate the drop back to 2m after finishing second twice over further. The others will be playing for places unless something untoward happens.
