In depth
Verdict
Alfy Rich can win the finale against a whole host of potential dangers, including Caislean Ui Cuain, Political Sox and Phase Eight Girl to name but three. Although Alfie Rich lines up three pounds out of the handicap, he has sound claims of following up his easy victory over Special Promise at Hexham 10 days ago. That was his first outing for Martin Todhunter, and although it was only in selling company, he left the impression that there was more to come. Irish raider Caislean Ui Cuain, who bears the name of a famous pub in Kilkenny, had to be ridden out all the way to the line when scoring at Cartmel and will appreciate the slightly lesser stamina test. He looks a threat along with Political Sox who stayed on strongly when successful here just over three weeks ago. He does have his fair share of weight though, whereas Phase Eight Girl has not been overly burdened for a gutsy win at Uttoxeter. Her stable is in a bit of form again and she should run well. Interdit generally figures somewhere during proceedings but has it to do on this occasion, and we much prefer Alfy Rich to land the spoils.
