Verdict

Gary Moore continues to send out the winners and Haafel can add to his list at the expense of Semi Precious and Gus Des Bois. The seven-year-old returned from a very long lay off to finish an excellent second behind Nathos at Plumpton. The run should have done him the world of good, and in what looks a very modest affair, he must hold strong claims. Semi Precious did even better after his six month absence, beating Bernini in good style at Hereford last month. His cause would be helped with a bit more rain but nevertheless he should be a big threat to the selection. Gus Des Bois is looking as though he doesn't want to win another race, but he does come into the argument on the best of this season's efforts. Pounsley Mill is also worth the once over in a very tricky event, but Haafel, who may have just needed his recent outing should be spot on for this, and he gets the vote.
