Verdict

SAILOR'S SOVEREIGN is out of the weights but that shouldn't worry this dour stayer who went close over course and distance last time on a sound surface. He's got form to his name at Towcester on a testing surface so should be able to handle the conditions here well enough and should go close again although it must be said that he has yet to get his head in front. Ethiopia has won over course and distance and is entitled to respect on that form but his victory was achieved on a fast surface and he does have to prove as effective under these conditions. Beware Chalk Pit faces the first realistic task of his career and is difficult to assess as a result; he has to be worth a second look on debut for a new yard whilst Mister Pink has something to find with the selection on their latest running but handles conditions and could go well.
