Verdict

A tricky puzzle to solve in this final race and narrow preference is for Spud ahead of Najca De Thaix, Monfils Monfils and Dark Parade. The selection scraped home by the skin of his teeth last time out on his hurdling debut and has thus been awarded a mark of 105 which may prove to be lenient given his progressive profile. This quicker ground will not hinder and assuming that the market signs are positive then he can be gambled on. The Local, Carly Bay and Royal Wedding all have winning course and distance form but neither has been in top form of late with the first-named looking high enough in the weights at present. Dark Parade is a useful dual-performer but he often finds very little for pressure and needs the perfect race if he is to win. Najca De Thaix is another who may not be one to set your watch by, and so a bigger danger may be Monfils Monfils whose stable remain in top form and this gelding has suggested that he is better than his recent efforts might suggest. Persona is consistent but tends to find at least one too good and so we will return to Spud who showed a good attitude when the chips were down last time out.
