      Verdict

      SARDANAPALUS was only beaten half-a-length by Fennell Bay on his reappearance at Newmarket. He's 7lb higher now but is very lightly-raced and may well be improving quickly enough to defy the extra. Elkhart has his sights lowered but has shown very little this year and finished behind Bank On Him at Doncaster last month, while Deepsand sports headgear for his first try over a mile. Satanic Beat is starting to come down the weights but may need further leniency from the handicapper to recapture the winning thread.
