In depth

Verdict

In the opener, Lysandra is selected ahead of Qualitair Flyer and Purple Dancer. Lysandra got back to winning ways last time and, having won well there and still being favourably treated based on the best of her 2005 form, ought to be able to go well again. Jackie Kiely also comes here on the back of a win but needs another career-best effort if he is to score, while Orpen Wide has to prove he stays this far on the Flat. Kylkenny is well-weighted based on his best Turf form of last autumn's, while Qualitair Flyer caught the eye staying on late at Leicester last time and is another to give some thought to. Tender The Great failed to build on her Newmarket win at the same venue last time and it remains to be seen whether the step up in trip will help the cause. Tedstale Mac keeps getting chances from the grader, but is failing to take them, while Purple Dancer would hold claims if getting back to his course and distance form of last September. Finally, in good heart following a claiming win, Moonshine Bill cannot be ruled out of things from his current mark racing outside of that company now, while Kentuckian improved to run well last time but others are preferred today, chief among these being Lysandra, who gets our vote.
