In depth
Verdict
Meraas won a maiden in good style at Newcastle and is preferred to stablemate and novice winner Makyon. Romero is another making his handicap debut along with Richard Fahey’s duo Majestic Sands and Hurcle and the latter found Corvair too good at Lingfield in March. The Crisford’s colt is 6lb higher on his Turf debut having been beaten over 7f subsequently while TROUBADOR failed to figure in Group 3 company on his return. But Michael Dod’s grey finished runner-up in a decent nursery at York before finding only one too good in the Two-Year-Old Trophy at Redcar last year and should make a bold bid in this. Borsdane Wood’s earlier double came over 7f at Southwell and headgear is fitted today.
