      Verdict

      Awaywiththegreys seems incredibly harshly-treated for a 50-1 success in an ordinary Haydock maiden against some tough and gnarled stayers. Riptide and See And Be Seen are guaranteed to see out this stamina-sapping trip but neither has been in the best of form this term, whereas Longshadow, another confirmed stayer, doesn't seem to know how to run a bad race and rates a major contender. However, TUSCAN GOLD receives 7lb from the Ward inmate and that weight advantage could prove decisive over this gruelling distance. He always seems to go well here, is a paragon of consistency and his yard remains in cracking form.
