In depth

Verdict

Gin In The Inn won this last year and Captain Dion the year before. Both are in reasonable form and at the right end of the handicap so should make bold bids. Mr Orange has won five times here and completed a track and trip double in mid-summer. He was out of his comfort zone at Ascot last time and this is more his level. His stable companion Saluti is only up 3lb for landing a Class 3 handicap at Doncaster, though prefers really fast ground. Young John likes some give in the ground as he showed at Chepstow though may have had an advantage racing alone on the far side. HIGHLY SPRUNG (NAP), a winner here in July, ran a cracking race in the Bronze Cup at Ayr on Friday and a similar level of form would see him difficult to beat.
