Verdict
MONKSLAND reverted to hurdles in the Bar One at Fairyhouse earlier this month after a spell over fences where he did very well without quite hitting the heights. He was beaten a long way by Apple's Jade in that Grade 1 but still retains enough ability to be winning at this level. It's almost three years since Sure Reef landed a Grade 2 novices' hurdle at Leopardstown but still has plenty of time on his side and it would be no surprise if he were to make a successful return to action. My Murphy is a very smart handicap chaser but is likely to find a few of these too quick but Supasundae ran an excellent race on his reappearance at Leopardstown on Tuesday and should go well again. Tycoon Prince looked a very progressive hurdler last season but blundered away his chance at Aintree in April and hasn't run since while John Kiely's French import Le Curieux has an even longer absence to overcome having been well beaten in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham on his debut for the yard.
