In depth

Verdict

Not much strength in depth here, with the older horses having shown next to nothing. Star Ovation did at least manage to finish second on his latest outing, but he would probably do better in a handicap and should find the three-year-olds too strong for him. A Vendre has become very disappointing and it will be interesting to see how he reacts to the headgear. He is more than capable if consenting to put his best foot forward, but even at his best he may have to play second fiddle to Akshar, who turned in a sound effort on his debut, in what looked a decent maiden at Newmarket. He is sure to have improved for the experience and will take all the beating.
