In depth
Verdict
A chance is taken here with the top-weight Apt To Run, with Ballybeg and Orvietan put forward as the likely dangers. Ed Dunlop is in pretty good form at present and this well bred colt, blinkered for the first time, can add to the trainers success. The form figures don't look too inspiring but he hasn't been beaten far in maidens and a handicap. The headgear may be the key and he looks worth a speculative wager. Ballybeg is a consistent enough sort but may just be in the handicapper's grip. Nevertheless he may be capable of reaching the frame. Orvietan ran well in a better race than this last time and is certainly one to consider for each-way purposes. In a wide open contest Blushing Hilary is another with sound claims, but we are hoping Apt To Run can finally live up to his excellent pedigree and he gets our sporting vote.
