In depth
Verdict
An ordinary maiden can go to Noble Nova, whose yard have a solid record with first-time up two-year-olds and she is fancied to be sharp enough to deliver today. Casablanca Minx and Fancy You set what standard there is from those with experience, while Making Music and Soviet Terms are worth taking notes on this time around. Soviet Times is bred to appreciate further and will probably need the experience. Making Music showed signs of greenness on her debut and failed to get competitive as a result. However, she was not beaten far and, as Makbul's progeny have made a bright start to the season, she cannot confidently be ruled out. Fancy You holds Dangermouse on the form of their encounter at Pontefract last month. However, she needs to find improvement to figure here. The market will be a good guide on that score. Cassablanca Minx has struggled to go the pace over the minimum trip and already needs this extra furlong. She could feasibly get involved at the business and is worth bearing in mind for at least a place. However, we prefer to go with the potential of Noble Nova, whose half-sister won as a juvenile for Sir Mark Prescott a couple of seasons ago. The daughter of Fraam is sure to be primed to do herself justice if she is typical of some of the other newcomers Channon has introduced recently - twelve of whom have already won a race so far this term. Which bodes well for Noble Nova today.
