          Verdict

          We'll take ROYAL MAX to land this big field nursery, but then we could probably name half the field and still not come up with the winner in a tricky affair. Royal Max is one of a pair saddled here by Richard Fahey and the Hawkeye colt has taken a while to get the hang of things, but the penny finally looked to be dropping last time out on heavy ground. There is plenty of cut in the surface this time too, and the step up to a mile should be another plus, while both Paul Hanagan up and a first-time visor won't do any harm so we'll tentatively suggest him. Little Tokyo has possibilities as one who acts in the mud and is also bred to get this trip and beyond, so he is not ruled out. Shifting Gold ran well in the context of this race when runner up on heavy at Beverley last time and has to be taken seriously, though Bounty Reef and Hollow Green, both sent north by David Evans, will have to raise their game after contesting sellers. Yokozuna won't be suited by conditions, but Dispol Diva will and she can be thereabouts at the business end. Royal Max gets the vote here.
