      In depth

ALQAMAR is bred to be much better than this and hopefully the soft ground will bring about the necessary improvement after a reasonable second run at Newmarket. Jukebox Jive attempted to make all over 1m2f at Bath and was only headed at this trip. The ground was very fast that day though there's no reason why he shouldn't act on this easier going. Sofia's Rock was disappointing when long odds-on at Hamilton and though that looked a stronger than usual event for the track he has already become expensive to follow. The newcomers Tewafeedj and Moon Sun Star are worth a glance in the market, especially the latter, a 100,000gns son of Teofilo and brother to a USA Grade 2 winner.

Alqamar 15-2 (9-0) Tracked leader, led over 2f out, ridden and headed over 1f out, kept on one pace, 3rd of 11, 3 1/2l behind Eminent (9-0) at Newmarket 1m mdn stks (4) gf in Sep.

Bolder Bob (IRE) Big Bad Bob colt out of Semiquaver.

Jukebox Jive (FR) 25-1 (9-5) Led, ridden and headed entering final furlong, chased leader until inside final furlong, no extra in 3rd towards finish, 3rd of 6, 1 1/2l behind Castellated (9-0) at Bath 1m 2f mdn stks (5) gf in Oct.

Moon Sun Star (IRE) Teofilo colt out of Twice The Ease.

Sofia's Rock (FR) 8-15fav (9-5) Led until over 1f out, no extra closing stages, 3rd of 6, 4l behind Now Children (9-5) at Hamilton 1m mdn stks (5) gd in Aug.

Taxmeifyoucan (IRE) 10-1 (9-5) Went right start, slowly into stride, towards rear, struggling when hung left over 2f out, soon weakened, 7th of 10, 13 1/4l behind Baashiq (9-5) at Redcar 1m mdn stks (5) gs in Oct.
