          Verdict

          Jim Goldie has a viable contender in the first division and Black Douglas should go well in this having only gone down by a half-a-length over 5f at Newcastle last week. Lees Anthem may be improving and Bryan Smart saddles both course and distance winner Orwellian and Emily Hall. ALLURING STAR has never won over this shorter trip but was second at Newcastle last month behind Monakova, who went on to rattle up a hat-trick, and finished a place ahead of Durham Express. Mick Easterby's mare has plenty of pace and can end a frustrating run ahead of Verus Delicia, another consistent type.
