        Verdict

        Mick Channon won this last year and Signorina Merisi, beaten a neck in a Thirsk nursery in September, wasn't suited by soft ground on her reappearance. But PUB CRAWL (NAP) followed a promising reappearance at Leicester with a staying-on second over an extended mile at Epsom. With the extra certain to suit, Michael Bell's charge looks the one to beat. Tim Easterby's yard is hitting its stride and Zimmerman was beaten a short-head on soft ground here at the beginning of the month. Ward Castle's three runs last season were over a mile and his pedigree suggests this should be his trip while Viadelamore, a £120,000 yearling, will be expected to do better this campaign.
