In depth
Verdict
Without getting into a boring tirade about the draw - the far side has a good strike-rate in recent season so, with that in mind, Lord Baskerville is fancied to build on a couple of solid efforts and gain some just compensation; possibly at the main expense of Beaver Diva and Killerby Nicko from the surrounding stalls positions. There is a fair amount of pace on the stands' side though with Firebird Rising and Ice Planet capable of towing them along if in the mood today. Red Monarch is another that can tag along on that side and should not be too far away if repeating his latest effort at Brighton. Paul Blockley's charge is still lightly raced and could give them all something to think about if he can stay out of trouble and he has to be placed high on the list for each way players, while the same would have been said about Uhuru Peak had he not been handed the worst of the draw down the middle. It has been unwise to assume that a horse in the middle can track wherever the pace in the past is when the stalls are spread across the track and he is reluctantly passed over today. Which brings us back to Lord Baskerville, who has hit form just at the right time for this. The son of Wolfhound has been showing plenty of dash of late and, as he hails from one of the less fashionable yards, Lord Baskerville is fancied to give us a cracking run for the money at a decent price this afternoon.
