In depth

Verdict

A tricky maiden to finish off with where the main protagonists look to be Hope Road, Northern Jem, Sonar Sound and Triple Beat and the vote goes to Hope Road. James Fanshawe has a good record when he comes up to the 'garden racecourse' and having made a pleasing debut last year in a hot Leicester maiden, he can progress with another winter on his back and looks worth siding with today. Motarjm didn't handle the all-weather surface at Southwell last time out and certainly cannot be written off just yet, whilst Ravarino may need more time to show his best. The maiden that Triple Beat finished fifth in first time out hasn't worked out well however he is entitled to come on plenty for the run as most of the stable's do. Topazleo and Mr Grand Lodge are two more for the shortlist after promising debut runs whilst Sonar Sound and Northern Jem both possess plenty of experience and warrant respect. A tricky finale, in which Hope Road gets the tentative nomination.
