In depth

Verdict

This is a bit more competitive than an average Class 5 handicap. Sandret and Cosmos Raj have won their fair share but Western Beat is still a maiden on Turf, though has won twice on the all-weather. Rievaulx Raver dead-heated with a progressive sort over a mile here earlier in the month and should again beat Flame Spirit. Sir Jock Bennett got off the mark at Haydock while Falcon Nine would be a rare runner here for Sir Michael Stoute. Much improved on the all-weather at the start of the year, BLUEFLAGFLYINGHIGH missed the break at Beverley last month but still caught the eye and has been dropped a pound since. Nakano and Nefyn Dawn are very unexposed and can’t be ignored.
