In depth

Verdict

Sand Cat is taken to get the better of The Snatcher, with Desert Realm the other for the shortlist. The selection was a little disappointing on this track last time when a beaten favourite behind In Full Cry. However, that was over 6f and the return to the minimum trip should play to his strengths as he ran with great credit over this trip on his debut when third behind Green Park at Lingfield. The winner has since gone on to frank that form and it is difficult to look beyond this 70,000 gns purchase today with his yard in fair form. The Snatcher rates the main danger as he has done little wrong on his two runs to date and he was a good second behind Upper Hand last time. However, our selection looks to have more scope for improvement and although The Snatcher is expected to run his race, he is narrowly passed over on this occasion. Desert Realm disappointed on his debut at York when he was well-supported in the market. He may not have handled the soft surface that day and with this faster ground likely to bring about some improvement he has to be of interest. Bel Cantor is in fair form and is the other with place prospects, but for the winner we return to Sand Cat.
