Verdict
A real old rogues gallery has been assembled for this one and not too many can be confidently ruled out. However, a chance is taken that High Policy will build on a promising effort at Beverley last time and he is just selected over Teorban, Mr Fortywinks and Our Monogram. High Policy has a useful turn of foot on his day and has improved vastly since being fitted with cheeckpieces. He is extremely well treated on the pick of his form at present and will be hard to pass with Graham Gibbons aboard. Timmy Murphy teams up with Teorban again and the partnership should be involved in the shake-up again. But the ground is something of an imponderable and his 6lb penalty makes his task a difficult one. Mr Fortywinks goes very well at Ripon but can spoil his chances by running too freely, so Our Monogram, who scored over course and distance last season, may be the better value for each way backers if the ground dries up sufficiently.
