        Verdict

        Intoxicating, Johnny Jumpup and Deeday Bay all put unbeaten records on the line in a fascinating novice contest but the vote goes to Little Dalham. Peter Chapple-Hyam has a good team of juveniles this season and the son of Diktat is entitled to step up on his debut effort behind the useful Al Garhoud Bridge on his Catterick debut. He is preferred to Fulke Johnson Houghton's Leicester maiden winner Intoxicating, who may struggle to concede weight away all round. Of more interest among the three previous winners in the field may be Chris Wall's Deeday Bay who showed a likeable attitude at Doncaster. Johnny Jumpup arguably has the best form on offer having beaten Iceman on his debut at Bath but there is a suspicion that he was flattered by that as the runner-up has improved greatly since and he is not certain to appreciate the longer trip today. None of Nerys Dutfield's three runners make much appeal and of more interest among the remainder may be Ridder, who has shown a fair level of form on both of his starts, and Richard Hannon's newcomer David's Symphony. The vote though goes to Little Dalham who is expected to step up on his debut effort, as most of his stable mates have done.
