In depth
Verdict
This looks a difficult finale to the day's proceedings with plenty of the 17-runner field having claims and what can only be a tentative vote goes to Aiming, who gets the verdict over Blanco and Desert Flame. The selection has solid claims on the form shown when a close third behind Royal Bathwick at Warwick last month. Two subsequent defeats have seen Richard Hannon's filly slip to an attractive mark and she is taken to take advantage of that. Mark Wallace has his string in good form now so Blanco has to be respected but his recent runs suggest that a drop in the handicap is required and a bigger danger to the selection may come from Desert Flame. Andrew Balding's gelding is well treated on his best and, with his yard in such good order at present, he has to be respected. Parnassian, Geography and Gun Salute are others worthy of a mention but we are happy to side with the selection.
