Verdict
The feature event of the day has attracted a good field of whom Cape Town would be the pick on official ratings. A good servant to the Hannon yard, Cape Town has however been found wanting in good company of late and might not been quite the horse he was this time last year. Hannon's other representative Priors Lodge could be the one to beat having run really well at Goodwood in the Lennox Stakes and looks to be going the right way. The Godolphin horse Lahooq hasn't been seen out for a long time and must have had his training problems so would do very well to take this good contest after such a break, but Smirk is really getting his act together and won a big handicap at Goodwood in fine style and could yet have more improvement to come. Kelburne is another handicapper that may be capable of holding his own in better company and has travelled a long way from Scotland to test the waters.
