Poppy Golightly can spring a surprise and take this open looking maiden, where form is thin on the ground, with Pose and Liel others to note. A daughter of the July Cup winner, Compton Place, Poppy Golightly was well beaten on her debut over this course and distance, finishing seventh. That looked only a reasonable debut at the time, but a number of the runners from that race have run well since, with the fifth and sixth scoring next time out. Normal improvement can see the selection prove too good for some disappointing types. Pose has been expensive to follow, made favourite twice last year and still a maiden in six attempts. She has some good form to her credit, but struggles to get her head in front and is opposed on her first run for seven months, despite hailing from an in form yard. Liel may be a bigger threat, showing good pace for a long way on her debut, before fading into fourth. The stable's runners tend to come on for the run, though this daughter of Pivotal may prefer more cut. Poppy Golightly is the selection at an each way price.
