Verdict
Cartimandua gets a confident vote over Glencal, with New Light and To Party others to mention. Cartimandua takes a massive drop in class here, having contested the Fred Darling and 1,000 Guineas on her last two starts. Ed McMahon's filly not surprisingly failed to get involved at the business end on either occasion, but will surely prove too good for this lot today. In fact a closer look at her performance at Newmarket reveals that she actually ran well above her station, travelling well against the stands rail before fading in the dip. This drop back in trip might not be ideal for such a strapping young lady, but she should make class tell. Hughie Morrison is double-handed, with Night Falcon and Glencal, with the latter expected to prove best of the pair. Fourth on her Windsor bow over six furlongs, she will do better over further in time, given that she is related to St Leger winner Julio Mariner on the dam's side. New Light hails from a stable that can get them fit first time back, while To Party may have needed her return at Chester and can act better here. However, they are all surely playing for a place, with Cartimandua expected to take all the beating.
