    Verdict

A decent renewal of this ever-popular contest. None of the octet can be dismissed with confidence with matters made more difficult by a weights range of a mere 7lb. In completing a three-timer Burgonet has never won by more than half a length which says much for his toughness and resolution, a hallmark of many a stable inmate. However, we'll take him on with INFRASTRUCTURE. The Meade gelding is still a maiden but has only had four starts and is progressing well. His latest run at Sandown catches the eye as he was a fast-finishing runner-up to Corgi when unlucky not to get closer and the winner went on to run a cracking second in a hot Royal Ascot handicap last week. Mekong was highly tried the last day at Newbury and has been given a good rest since. The likelihood is that there is more to come and the form of the Stoute yard is there for all to see. He could go very well along with Chelmsford winner Drill.
