Verdict
El Dececy gets the vote over Ladies Best, Cry Presto and Crimson Monarch, with the market best watched for the remainder. This does not appear to be the strongest of maidens, and El Dececy must therefore have sound claims of opening his account on the strength of a fairly promising effort at Leicester three weeks ago. John Dunlop's colt was eased close home and earned Richard Hills a ban for his pains, but it was still a decent performance, and this step up in trip should help him make amends. The son of Seeking The Gold is entered for the Dewhurst and Racing Post Trophy, and although not likely to line up in either, should certainly be good enough for this. Ladies Best was well down the field on his Leicester bow and this Vodafone Derby entry will be seen to best effect over further next year, as will fellow Epsom entry Crimson Monarch. Cry Presto has bags of experience compared to the rest, but has been disappointing and is now tried in blinkers, and so El Dececy has plenty going for him here.
