Verdict
Last year's winner was the first successful three-year-old in 10 years. Robert Cowell's French recruit Exceed The Limit has won twice on soft ground while Sahreej has found the going much too fast in his two starts this campaign. Threave is the only course and distance winner and completed a hat-trick in soft going in late summer though LADWEB, who was two lengths behind him here in September, is 11lb better off and was in winning form himself in April when completing a double. He can bounce back from two recent defeats as Elysian Flyer, who won all of his three juvenile starts, didn't recapture that form last season though in much better company. Stake Acclaim landed a Class 4 handicap at Windsor but couldn't cope with a 4lb rise in higher grade at Goodwood but Newton's Law looks on a lenient mark with his young rider's claim taken into account.
