Verdict
FREE WORLD has a big name to live up to but should be more at home over this trip than Planet Of Sound and may have too much class for Songe and Gauvain. The ex-French gelding arrived with a big reputation and was a strong fancy for no less a race than the Imperial Cup on his debut for his current yard but had no answer to Ashkazar amongst others as he trailed home in midfield. Things didn't go an awful lot better next time out either where he was 8 lengths behind Planet Of Sound but he's 6lbs better off now and has had time to acclimatise. Planet Of Sound progressed well over hurdles but may need more of a trip in order to come into his own. Songe was another to enjoy a fine season over hurdles but he fell just short of the top bracket and could be biting off more than he can chew if the selection lives up to his billing. Crow Wood and Gauvain should come on for their respective chase debuts but both were well held and will need to. Odds-on shots have taken this the last twice and Free World may be able to complete a hat-trick of short-priced successes. (Ian Ogg)
