In depth

French bred five-year-olds have won both previous renewals but Risk And Roll continues to be let down by his jumping. Mr Mcgo was challenging when falling at Haydock so could go close with a clear round and Enola Gay normally jumps well and that can be an asset around here. DELIRE D’ESTRUVAL continually jumped right at Fakenham so did well to finish as close as he did. Going the other way round here should aid his cause and soft going could help him recapture the form he showed at Carlisle in the autumn. Bandsman was never travelling last month at Kempton and that run is best ignored so he also warrants a second look.

Delire D'Estruval (FR) 7-2 (11-3) Jumped right at times, led, headed 7th, ridden 9th, closed last, kept on, 2nd of 4, 1 3/4l behind Brelan D'As (11-3) at Fakenham 2m (3) gs in Feb.

Risk And Roll (FR) 5-1 (11-11) Pressed leader, led 6th, maintained strong pace and clear before next, reduced lead after 10th, headed next, lost 2nd before 12th, weakened and blundered 4 out, tailed off, 5th of 6, dist behind Blue Flight (11-7) at Ascot 2m 3f hcp (3) gs in Jan.

Bandsman 9-2 (11-11) Last pair, dropped to last and struggling 8th, never going after, tailed off, last of 8, dist behind Another Crick (11-6) at Kempton 2m 4f hcp (3) gd in Feb.

Mr Mcgo (IRE) 5-1 (11-2) Prominent, not fluent 4 out, driven to challenge when fell 2 out, at Haydock 2m 3f (3) sft in Dec.

Enola Gay (FR) 4-1 (10-0) Tracked leaders, went 2nd 4th until mistake 3 out, soon beaten, one pace, 5th of 8, 8 3/4l behind Kildisart (11-7) at Cheltenham 2m 5f hcp (2) gs in Jan.

Volt Face (FR) 14-1 (11-5) Tracked leaders, driven and outpaced before 3 out, went modest 4th next, kept on, never on terms, 4th of 10, 14 1/4l behind Orchardstown Cross (10-8) at Taunton 2m 7f hcp (4) gd in Feb.
