        Verdict

        Not for the first time in his career Arctic Desert found less than was anticipated, having travelled like the winner, at Folkestone last time and is probably worth taking on with preference for Ela Paparouna, who gets the vote ahead of Enford Princess. The last mentioned has claims on the pick of her form and ran close to that when second at Windsor last month but there is a suspicion that the daughter of Pivotal may be better on a softer surface. Violet Park is gradually slipping to a fair mark and has to be considered along with James Given's Burley Flame, who should appreciate the drop back in trip today. Chris Wall's Keyaki is on a fair mark but needs to improve on recent evidence and of more interest may be Blue Java, although his backers will need to disregard a below par effort last time. The vote then goes to Ela Paparouna, who has not had a great deal of racing this term and remains on a favourable mark.
