Verdict
With Kelpie, Barry Island, Whaleef and Weecandoo all hold up horses it may pay to side with those more likely to race up with the pace and Northside Lodge gets the verdict over Desert Heat. The last mentioned may get an uncontested lead. Henry Cecil's colt failed to open his account as a juvenile and, while the son of Green Desert may have improved from two to three, which is no certainty. Northside Lodge normally races prominently and is taken to capitalise on the likely slow pace by getting first run on his rivals. The Peter Harris-trained gelding disappointed at Redcar last time but has solid claims on the form shown at Epsom and Doncaster previously and looks worth chancing at the forecast odds. Kelpie, who is unexposed on turf, rates the main danger of the remainder but, as we have said, may not have the race run to suit.
